Lagotto Romagnolo is an ancient breed of water retrievers from the lowlands of Comacchio and the marshlands of Raveena in Italy. The name means “lake dog from Romagna”. Traditionally Lagottos were used as water retrievers but today these “working dogs” are used (in Italy) to hunt for truffles.
Enzo is our Lagotto Romagnolo, he is two years old and is the inspiration for Dogtired. During the week Enzo spends his time living in an inner city apartment in Melbourne, he walks everyday around the city’s beautiful Botanical Gardens (The Tan) and has plenty of coffees at our favourite cafes. Every Friday night Enzo hits the road and makes a two hour drive to a family vineyard where he stretches his legs, rounds up the steers, scares the birds (and keeps them off the grapes) and meets and greets all the visitors at the vineyard cellar door. Not forgetting his mandatory swim in the dam. Enzo’s days are busy and he loves sleeping on his bed!
Wherever Enzo and I go we notice happy, healthy, stylish owners and their dogs. We often stop to chat and always the discussion is about our dogs and what they are doing. We look forward to sharing Enzo’s adventures with you and the friends we meet along the way. Megan Dogtired
